Thanksgiving aftermath

Published on November 28, 2007

It’s 11:35pm and I’m sitting here on my first overnight shift in two years. Definitely going to take some getting used to. Pretty laid back atmosphere. I see books, headphones, sleeping and some people working. I’ve worked on one job so far in my first 6 hours. I figure it […]

Last weekend was a weekend of eating

Max and I went to the Vendies last weekend where they give out the award for the best street vendor in NYC. We got all you can eat from 5 great vendors. We really ate way too much but it was a lot of fun and will all be chronicled in a video […]

Allright, allright…catching up on old news. The Wife and I spent the weekend in Hyde Park a couple of weeks ago. The centerpiece of the weekend was going to a double feature at the drive in. There are 2 drive ins up there and they put the weekly schedule up on Friday. […]

Go! Go! Curry

Published on August 14, 2007

I love Japanese curry.  I first ate it at Hurry Curry in Santa Monica, CA.  Since then, I’ve made it home a bunch of times with those pressed curry blocks you can buy at Japanese groceries.  I’ve had it in other restaurants every once in a while but it seemed like they made it from […]

Brunch at Penelope

Published on August 8, 2007

This past Sunday the Wife and I had brunch at a little place called Penelope.

It’s on 30th and Lexington.  Typical Manhattan brunch scene with loads of people waiting out on the sidewalk.  The guy said it would be over an hour wait but it turned out to be only about a half hour.  Plus they […]

Thai in the Heights

Published on August 1, 2007

Jackson Heights may not have a bookstore or a nice supermarket or any kind of anti-litter legislation but it does have a hell of a lot of really good, moderately priced restaurants featuring food from all over the world. Our two favorite Thai restaurants are Arunee and Sripaphai. I am no expert on […]

They all laughed at me.  Who’s laughing now?  240 people trapped in an enclosed space and no snack bar?  240 nervous people looking for sustenance, looking for a beacon, looking for Narchos.  But there were no […]

Dinner at the Dinosaur

Published on May 26, 2007

Max, Myra, Rob, Abby, the Wife and I ate at Dinosaur BBQ up in Harlem tonight.  Two words: food coma.  We had ribs, pork, sausage, deviled eggs, mac & cheese, beans, shrimp, wings, fried green tomatoes, simmered greens, corn bread, salt potatoes and three kinds of pie.  I also had a Donkey Punch.
By the time […]

Birthdays, bicycles and…clams?

Published on May 25, 2007

It was the wife’s birthday last week.

We celebrated with a quiet night at home. I made one of her favorite dishes, fish in lettuce.

And Sunday she had her 100 mile bike ride on Long Island. Pretty amazing. She also raised a ton of money for charity. What do you […]
